The spirit of social responsibility and community service within the corporate framework can never be limited to simply offering high quality services to clients. It necessarily extends to the larger community and dictates a pro-active role in myriad categories and fields. No one understands this better than TE.
The philanthropic role we took upon ourselves from the beginning, in addition to our lucid understanding of Egyptian society's specific interests and concerns, makes it absolutely essential for us to strike a more personal chord with our clients and Egyptian society at large.
Health
In healthcare, TE funded a television infomercial in support of the 57357 Children's Cancer Hospital. In addition, it has made various, generous donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt (BCFE), the Friends of Ain Shams' Children's Hospital Society and Ain Shams Hospital's Organ Transplantation Unit. TE has also taken part in founding a dialysis center in Al-Qaliubeya governorate.
Sports
Given TE's belief in the power and positive effect of sports, the company sponsored the 21st Speed Ball World Cup final, in which Egypt won the gold medal in October 2007. It also held the third Ramadan tournament for companies working in the ICT industry and sponsored the 11th Arab tournament in November 2007, which included football, handball, basketball and other sports. Moreover, TE has consistently honored Egyptian athletes.
Society
Because TE believes that it is an indelibly integral part of Egyptian society, it has sponsored a variety of social events and functions such as the group wedding that took place at the Cairo International Stadium in September and the handicapped conference in November 2007. It also co-sponsored the celebrations for the April 4th Orphan's Day and granted donations to the Egyptian Food Bank. It also funded the new center for the blind in Cairo University's Central Library and took part in the annual One Thousand Children's Gathering organized by the "Sohbet Khair" charity.
Education
Education is the backbone of our society. Thus, TE pays special attention to it. TE sponsored the first African Education Conference held in January 2007, the High Honors Secondary Students' Ceremony in August 2007 and supported the International Workshop of the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University that took place in October and November 2007. It also offered financial contributions to the new El-Wady El-Gedeed University campus.
Culture
TE also offered financial donations to equip the multimedia center at the new Egyptian museum and prepared for the national "Reading is for All" campaign.
Community
As for TE's role with local communities, it set up the Producing Families (Deyarana) Exposition in May 2007 and purchased 150 personal computers for Developing Masr El-Gedeeda. It has also played an active role in supporting women's issues in Egypt through sponsoring the Sixth African Arab Conference for Businesswomen.
Technology Development
Finally, TE seeks to continuously support technology development industry. It sponsored the Copyrights and Information Technology Conference in May, the Twenty-fourth National Radio Science Conference in March, the Sixth Egyptian Engineers' Day in July and the International Convention for Telecommunications and Information Technology Techniques in December 2007.
