  • Date of the Regional Forum of the International Telecommunication Union for the development of human capacities of the Arab countries

Telecom Egypt hosts the Regional Forum of the International Telecommunication Union for the development of human capacities of the Arab countries, which will be held from 1st to 3 November 2009 its training sector building in Nasr City - Cairo.

  • Objectives of the Regional Forum of the International Telecommunication Union for the development of human capacities of the Arab countries

This forum aims to encourage the excellence in the development of human capacities in the information and telecommunication technologies field (ICT) and the communications through the exchange of the experiences and the best practices of the learning and the development in this field.

This forum also provides an opportunity for participants to discuss the challenges and key training needs in the field of the information and communications technology, and provides too the communication with the international and regional intellectuals in the learning and development field as well as building new relationships and to meet the different training institutions from all Arab countries.

In other side, the forum aims to develop the regional initiatives for cooperation between stakeholders from the public and private sector‘s practitioners in learning and development field. For more information, visit the website http://academy.itu.int

  • The Registration for the participation in the Regional Forum of the International Telecommunication Union for the development of human capacities ofthe Arab countries
The Registration for participation in the forum will be only via the website:
http://www.itu.int/itu-d/hrd/hcdf/arb/registration.html, And please note that the number of participants was specified by one hundred participants only, and in case of the increase of participants’ number ,the countries will bear the costs of any additional delegate. In addition, as soon as facilitating the procedures, the Union will provide one grant for each department from the least developed countries’ departments (LCDs).
According to the number of  grants ‘requests from candidates who meet the conditions, the category of grant will be identify to complete grants or partial grants.
The complete grant includes a flight ticket - economy class across the shortest and most economical route from the origin country to Egypt, in addition to a daily allowance in local currency to cover the accommodation, meals, and incidental expenses.
As for the partial grant includes the daily subsistence allowance in local currency, and in this case all the beneficiaries will receive a confirmation concerning the expected share of their departments for grants and can the employee who signed the form can confirm or cancel it. And the priority will be given to the participants who apply new contributions directly related to the agenda items of the program.

Grants forms must be submitted not after than 1/10/2009, these forms can be requested through the website by filling the registration form section, which is on the site. In addition, it must be there a pre-registration attached by the requests for grants not after 24 / 9 / 2009. And in case of pre-registration without attached requests for grants, the registration will be on 27/10/2009 until 11:00 UTC .
It will be appreciated when the delegates participate with an activity at the Forum via the exchange of experiences and practices, and express their point of view about
• the basic needs of learning and development in the information and communications technology sector.
• The challenges of learn and develop or to retain the talents facing their organizations.
• How can the financial crises affect on the learning, development and talent management in the information and communications sector.
• The main evolutions in the executives training field in their organizations.
• The Case studies which illustrate the achievements in the development of human capacities.

These activities to be sent to Ms. / Nefertiti Ali (the Chief Advisor of Arab countries in the Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union in Egypt) via e-mail Nefertiti.ali@itu.int.Authors will be notified in case of choosing their bids to include it in the program not after14/9/2009
The Participants who need a visa to Egypt must contact their embassies / consulates before the forum to obtain the information concerning this regard. The hotel reservation and booking must be directly with the one that was chosen by fax or via e-mail, by filling the booking form on the website of the chosen hotel and sending a copy of this form to the local coordinator of the meeting

Forum activities will take place over two days of plenary meetings, and the third day will focus on the development of a strategy for e-learning.
It also the discussions will be translated immediately during the Forum into three languages: Arabic, English, and French.
 
The first day 1/11/2009

• The challenges and opportunities concern the human capital in the telecommunications sector / information and Telecommunications technology in the Arab countries.
• The main needs from capacity building in the policy and organization field in the Arab countries.
• The globalization of Arab telecommunications investments: What is its impact on the training?
• The convergence and the integration in the world of information and telecommunications technology: new skills and needs.

  • To facing the economic downturn, we will manage the talents.

The second day 2/11/2009

  • To a competitive advantage, we will invest in the evolution of the employee’s skills.
    • The refinement of the learning tools of  information and communication technology for the development of talent and promote learning and development across the organization.
    • Developing leadership talent: Does training institutions to the challenge of requirements executives?
    • Promotion of research, development, and innovation in the Arab market for information technology and communications.
    • The Challenges that the supplier of the training services faces in the Arab countries.
    • establish strategic partnerships between the information and telecommunications industry and the training institutions.
    • The International Telecommunication Union intellectual centers in the Arab countries.
